Wk 13 — Art Activity — Portfolio Research
Anaheim School District
Anaheim School District is a school district that is in charge of multiple schools from elementary all the way up to high school. This company hires teachers, aids, school board members, custodians, principles, all the people needed in order for a school to run properly. I can see myself being able to offer them by working as a teacher. However because there are already a lot of teachers, I could be an adaptive physical education teacher where I can help students with disabilities and help them find joy.
Autism Spectrum Interventions
This company focuses on the principle that all individuals with special needs deserve the same service and potentially given to them. Autism Spectrum Interventions' goal is to help individuals reach their goals whatever it may be. I think this could be a good opportunity for me to shine and help the company see my passion. For the clients, I would try my best to be genuine and help them see that I truly do care for them and that I would go to my maximum capacity to help those who are in need.
Acuity Behavior Solutions
This company helps individuals with special needs to improve their communication, social. academic, leisure activities, daily tasks, and reduce inappropriate behaviors. Acuity Behavior Solutions is a company who does solely one on one’s with client and workers so it can help enhance skills at a more efficient pace. I think this place would be a very good idea for me to learn skills myself on how to help others with their needs and how to enforce rules when needed.
Dr. Barry Lavay
Dr. Barry Lavay is a professor here at the California State University of Long Beach for the department of Kinesiology. Dr. Lavay has contributed in many areas and has even been acknowledged for the 2019 Nick Breit Professional Recognition Award. This recognized his astonishing services to those related in the field of physical activity for people with special needs. He is a co-director for Camp Nugget at the campus. This allows students to help volunteer to work with individuals with special needs.
Matt Schinelli
He is the founder of New Jersey All People Equal (NJAPE). He focuses on the objectives that should be established by a physical education or APE specialist, and not through a physical or occupational therapist. He mentions how important it is to test a child’s gross motor, fitness, cognitive, and sports skills to see if he or she needs to be in an adaptive physical education class. He emphasizes on the importance of teaching and reaching out to children all equally so each individual can reach its own stepping stones.
Catherine Beecher
She is the founder of the Hartford Female Seminary and has helped create calisthenics in her school’s curriculum. She was recognized as the first American to design a program of exercise for American children. She is an advocator for daily physical education in public schools and focuses on the equal attention needed for schools to allow students to exercise. She also mentions that each child should be able to set their own personal goals.
When I create a website I would position myself as a promising candidate to be an employee, consultant, or even a summer intern for these companies and clients I mentioned above through my experiences, passion, and dedication. Ever since I was nine years old, I started babysitting. One example would be that my mom gave birth to my little brother when I was nine. Ever since then, I started volunteering for churches and families. And even until this day, I am volunteering at churches finding places where help is needed. I also would show how passionate I am with children because of how dedicated I have been for the past decade.
